A truly special vintage Starline nine-drawer dresser, completely reimagined with a custom, modern-organic finish while preserving the warmth and character of the original wood.
The body was refinished in a sophisticated muted sage/stone neutral — one of those beautifully changeable colors that reads soft green, warm greige, or earthy putty depending on the light. Rather than painting the entire piece, the substantial lower base was stripped and refinished in a rich warm wood tone, creating beautiful contrast and highlighting the dresser’s original architecture.
All nine drawers feature the original dimensional framed fronts, now paired with distinctive warm bronze/copper label-style hardware that gives a subtle nod to vintage campaign and apothecary furniture. Inside, the naturally warm wood drawer boxes have been preserved and finished with a gorgeous charcoal-and-cream botanical liner selected specifically for this piece. The combination of sage, warm wood, bronze and botanical print is understated from across the room and unexpectedly beautiful when the drawers are opened.
This dresser was thoughtfully prepared and refinished from top to bottom, including extensive surface preparation, a smooth sprayed finish, a separately refinished wood base, and protective topcoat for durability. The drawers are exceptionally clean, operate well, and provide a tremendous amount of practical storage.
At 55” wide, it is substantial without being oversized — an excellent size for a primary bedroom, guest room or nursery, and beautiful enough to work beyond the bedroom as a statement storage piece in an entry, dining room or living space.
